DIGITAL DESIGN
Pottery Barn Kids is a luxury retail furnishing brand specializing in sustainable furniture and everything a kid will need in all stages of childhood, from newborn to pre-teen.
After completing my internship as a Product Design Intern in the summer of 2018, I was hired on as a Junior Graphic Designer for Pottery Barn Kids & Teen after graduating college. My small team worked on all the paid and organic social assets for the brands as well as assisted with catalog design and production. My role eventually evolved to encompass more digital creative work which included designing email, social, marketing assets, and website.
MY ROLE
Digital Designer
Designing for email entailed not only creating new templates for each season, but also designing, updating, and coding the emails sent daily (which could be up to four emails per day). The email process required constant collaboration with website designers, marketing, copywriters, and our team to deliver the emails on a daily basis.
FUN FOR EVERY SEASON
I designed email templates at the beginning of every season which had to be consistent with the look of the website and overall marketing for that specific season. Since Pottery Barn Kids is a kid-focused brand, it was important to use animation with GIFs and video to always add extra fun and engagement.
Along with designing emails, social design was a huge part of marketing. I built out social assets for both paid and organic in bundles so assets could launch on all social platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Snapchat. Social design is challenging due to the ever-changing trends and platform specifications, but always pushed me creatively to produce something fun and engaging.
15 SECONDS OF FAME
Instagram stories are always my favorite to design, they have to pull the customer in within 15 seconds.
I focused on story telling and intriguing customers to want to swipe up for more.
